| coated with a anti-stick agent and placed
on a cooling rack to dry. A sample of the batch then goes into the laboratory for quality
control testing. If the rubber is to be
delivered in strip form for extruder processing it is then packaged in one of two
different types of strip boxes for shipment. When the |
 |
 |
laboratory approves the
batch, i.e. it has been tested and meets all specifications, it is ready for shipment.
If the rubber is to be calendered the batch is then
moved to the extruder where the compound is strained, or filtered through a fine mesh
screen. All |
calendered rubber
products we produce are strained prior to calendering to ensure that any contamination or
impurity has been removed. The screen and the rubber immediately behind the screen is then
delivered to the laboratory for their monitoring of contamination levels detected.
After straining and prior to calendering the rubber is "warmed-up" on a mill to
enable |
 |
 |
smooth calendering.
Rubber is then passed through the rolls of the 3 roll calender into a polythene based film
or foil to separate the layers, and it is then wound up into rolls of approximately 50kg
each.
Once calendered into a roll, the rubber is placed into a box for
shipment. The box both protects the |
| calendered rubber and keeps it clean. As
an alternative to shipping in boxes the calendered roll may be wrapped in bubble wrap
protection for shipment. |
