The HW-Series

Rubber Compounds for Offset printing Rollers

With pressroom requirements becoming more and more demanding, printers expect the finest performance achievable from their rollers.  Thus, we have developed the HW-Series of coverings for inking and dampening rollers.  Initially this series of compounds was developed for high speed web presses where its dynamic properties have been proven to be second to none, and thus the name “HW” for “High Speed Web”.  Subsequently roller manufacturers began using the HW-Series on sheetfed presses and with great success.

Two characteristics of the HW-Series coverings which sets it apart from competitors is dimensional stability and hardness stability.  Pressroom chemistry today is far from user friendly with regard to rubber coverings and more is expected of the rollers than was ever before.  The action of inks, fountain solutions and roller washes can lead to premature roller failure as plasticizers and other ingredients are extracted from roller coverings, but here the HW-Series excels.

The HW-Series of compound are based exclusively on nitrile rubber.  A unique blend of plasticizers, fillers and additives are carefully blended to achieve optimum performance and roller life.

Notable features of the HW-Series compounds includes:

·        Exceptional stability in today’s pressroom environment resulting in rollers which hold their hardness and dimensions better that most coverings currently available

·        Superior dynamic properties to other coverings available.  This means that rollers run cooler even at very high speeds.

·        Works well on dampening rollers

·        Suitable for use in vegetable oil based inks as well as conventional inks.

·        A proven product – developed in the UK and utilized throughout Europe, and more recently in the USA.

·        Exceptional gindability, high quality finishes are easily attained.
